CSI Portsmouth where crime fiction meets crime fact

CSI Portsmouth, now in its sixth year, sees a stellar line up of crime authors, police and forensic experts debating crime fiction and crime fact in two panel events during the day.

On the morning panel, award winning crime writer Elly Griffiths, author of the series featuring forensic archaeologist Dr Ruth Galloway, joins Pauline Rowson, author of the popular DI Andy Horton crime novels set in the Solent area, and crime experts Simon Mound, a crime scene investigator with Hampshire Police’s Scientific Services Department with expertise in the recovery of firearms and the examination of firearm related crime scenes, and Jonathan Smith, a forensic scientist with expertise in the examination of blood and body fluids, hairs, fibres, botany and wood fragment identification and adviser to many UK Police forces.

The Hampshire Police Fingerprint Bureau will also be present and a mock up crime scene will be provided by students on the Forensic Science Course at South Downs College.

The afternoon panel comprises of Will Sutton, a musician, playwright an author of historical mysteries in Victorian London who will quiz crime author and crime expert Diana Bretherick, a former criminal barrister and now a lecturer in criminology and criminal justice at the University of Portsmouth and Hampshire based crime author  J. S Law, a former Royal Navy officer.

Pauline Rowson, who founded CSI Portsmouth in 2010, is the author of the novels featuring the flawed and rugged Portsmouth copper DI Andy Horton. There are now twelve in the series. She is also the author of two thrillers and a new marine based crime series featuring former Royal Marine Commando, Art Marvik.

CSI Portsmouth 2016 is shaping up to be a fantastic event. It will be highly informative and entertaining with a great line up of authors and crime experts. Tickets always sell out fast and the event attracts people but many from all over the UK.
