Tickets on sale for Portsmouth Coppers with crime authors, Graham Hurley and Pauline Rowson

Graham Hurley and Pauline Rowson, whose novels are set in Portsmouth, come under interrogation in a brand new event for Portsmouth BookFest, called Portsmouth Coppers where they will be cross examined by former criminal barrister and crime author Diana Bretherick about why they set their crime novels in Portsmouth and what is it about the waterfront city that holds such a fascination for them and their fictional detectives.

Portsmouth BookFest is organised by Portsmouth City Library Service and the Hayling Island Bookshop and runs from 11 February to 4 March 2017.

Portsmouth Coppers will give the audience the chance to hear how Graham Hurley and Pauline Rowson research and write their crime novels.  There will also be plenty of time for the audience to put their questions to the authors. The panel debate will be followed by a book signing.

Graham Hurley is the author of the DI Joe Faraday and DC Paul Winter crime novels set in Portsmouth which have been successfully adapted into a French television series.  Hurley's  move to Devon sparked a new spin-off crime series featuring DS Jimmy Suttle in Western Approaches and Touching Distance the latter of which has made it to a screen adaptation in France.  His latest novel Finisterre published by Head of Zeus in December 2016, is an international thriller set in the Second World War.

Pauline Rowson

Pauline Rowson was raised in Portsmouth a city which she shares with her flawed and rugged sailing detective, Andy Horton, who appears in thirteen crime novels with the latest Lethal Waves, published in February 2017.  As well as the DI Horton series she is author of two standalone crime novels and two in a new series featuring Art Marvik, a former Royal Marine Commando, turned undercover investigator for the UK’s National Intelligence Marine Squad (NIMS) who appears in Silent Running and Dangerous Cargo.  Her crime novels have been translated into several languages and the Andy Horton novels have been optioned by Lime Pictures, makers of Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, who are hoping to bring the enigmatic detective to the television screens.
