Fascinating Forensic Facts uncovered during my research for my crime novels

Bullet wounds

It is the combination of the crushed and shredded tissue and the effects of the temporary hole on tissue adjacent to the bullet path which determines the final extent of a wound. But in the case of handgun bullets the bullet produces a direct path of destruction with very little lateral extension within the surrounding tissues and only a small temporary cavity is produced.
