Built in 1494 during the reign of Henry VII, the Square Tower, part of the ancient fortifications built to protect the rapidly expanding naval port of Portsmouth had plenty of atmosphere to add to my talk and was of significance to the audience as many of my Portsmouth based DI Andy Horton crime novels feature the fortifications including the latest in the DI Andy Horton series (14) DEAD PASSAGE.
After my talk there was a question and answer session followed by a book signing.
I enjoyed entertaining members of Old Portsmouth WI and in such an atmospheric venue. I came away thinking it was such a good location for another crime novel being so steeped in history, it gave me several ideas, so I might just have to get DI Andy Horton down there.
