Great committee meeting of the CWA, lots to come for crime authors and crime readers

Yesterday I attended my first meeting as a new committee member of the prestigious Crime Writers’ Association  of Great Britain (CWA). It was a lively meeting with contributions from everyone and lots of great ideas that will continue to shape and build on the success of this august organisation not only for the benefit of its members, published crime authors, but also for anyone around the world who enjoys reading crime fiction, the most popular genre, and true crime books

The CWA was established in 1953 to promote the crime genre and provide professional support for its members. It also runs the prestigious Dagger Awards. Next year the CWA will be celebrating its Diamond anniversary with lots of events and other activities which I will post here.

I meant to get a photograph of all the committee members yesterday but we were so busy working we didn't get time!  I'll make sure I get a photograph at the next meeting, which will probably be at the end of June.

Meanwhile here are the committee members: Chairman of the CWA, Peter James, Alison Joseph, Simon Kernick, Len Tyler, Diane Janes, Aline Templeton, Chris Simms, Kate Stacey, Linda Stratmann, Michael Ridpath, Liz Evans, Christine Poulson, David Stuart Davues, Fiona Davies and Ilaria Meliconi with Claire McGowan as the CWA's director.

If you are a crime author reading this and have a publishing contract with an established publisher and would like to become a member please get in touch with the CWA or contact me via my website.

If you enjoy reading crime fiction or true crime then the CWA has recently launched the Crime Readers Association. You can visit the CRA website and sign up for a free e zine, articles, the chance to win some great crime books and much more.
