I was delighted to be asked to talk to members of the New Forest and Waterside U3A on 4 March about crime writing and the inspiration behind the
DI Andy Horton crime series and my
thrillers.
I was happy to supply the murder and mystery but the mayhem sprang from the fact there was a fire drill just before I was due to stand up and speak - though to be fair there was no mayhem. Everyone proceeded in an orderly fashion out of the fire exits into the car park where we were all duly ticked off the attendance list. My husband, Bob, was on hand to make sure all was in order and that it passed his critical former fire fighter's eye.
After my talk and before question time I decided to read a passage from
The Suffocating Sea - DI Andy Horton number 3 - where Andy is trapped in a burning Church vestry, very apt I thought.
Here are some photographs from the talk.
