Audience held spell bound as Pauline Rowson interviews Peter James

Over ninety people turned out to hear me interview best selling crime author Peter James at Portsmouth Bookfest on Thursday 22 February.

The audience were held spellbound as Peter James talked about how he researches and plots his crime novels.  There was a good deal of similarity between the way we work and both of us have close links with the police force, Peter with East Sussex Police and myself with Hampshire Police.  Peter James received applause when he expressed his anger at how the police  have been cut and how they are struggling to provide the public service that they wish to. He said, 'The police are the glue that binds our society.'

Peter James’ Roy Grace detective novels have sold over 18 million copies worldwide and have repeatedly topped the Sunday Times bestseller charts.  Peter, an established film producer, has produced numerous films, including 'The Merchant of Venice', starring Al Pacino.  Peter has twice been Chair of the Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) and has won many literary awards, including the publicly voted ITV3 Crime Thriller Awards People’s Bestseller Dagger but when asked by me what his proudest moment of his career to date was, he replied that winning the Crime Writers' Association Diamond Dagger Award for outstanding crime writing was very special for him. NEED YOU DEAD is the latest  Peter James novel to be published in paperback.
