Amazon has bought The Book Depository, a great supporter of my crime novels

Image
The news that The Book Depository has been bought by Amazon came as a shock to me. I didn't expect it but maybe I should have done because The Book Depository has been and is very successful. The Book Depository  feature my DI Horton marine mystery crime novels and thrillers under their Featured Crime and Thriller Section and have indeed been a huge supporter of my crime novels. Below is a lovely quote from their Commercial Manager of my crime novels: ‘Pauline is one of the most talented crime and thriller writers in the UK. By choosing locations and plot lines that are unique to her ' marine mysteries ' Pauline has set herself apart from the tried and tested formulae within the genre." Steve Potter, Commercial Manager, The Book Depository The Suffocating Sea   the third in the DI Horton series was also selected as the "Best of British Crime Fiction" by The Book Depository. The acquisition has prompted book industry experts to warn it could ti...

A summer of crime- reading that is - DI Horton marine mystery crime novels and thrillers featured on The Book Depository at some great prices

Image
It's summer time and even the sun has decided to shine (well at the time of me writing this it is) and that means time to perhaps catch up on reading while lounging in a deckchair in the garden or on the beach. Or you might be taking a cruise or jetting off to even sunnier climes and wish to chill out with a thriller or crime novel. So here comes the advertisement. There are some great prices on my marine mystery crime novels and thrillers on the  The Book Depository where they are featured in the  Featured Crime and Thriller section. There is also FREE worldwide delivery, which is fantastic. Alternatively my crime and thriller novels are available on Kindle over at Amazon so need to lug them all around. Whatever you're reading and wherever you are, enjoy it. Meanwhile, I shall be writing the next DI Andy Horton this summer in between lots of lovely walks (when my broken toe gets better, but that's another story) and cycling (because of the toe).

Pauline Rowson's DI Horton crime series and thriller novels featured on The Book Depository

I'm delighted that major on line retailer The Book Depository is featuring my crime and thriller novels in their Featured Crime and Thriller  section.  There are some good prices and FREE worldwide delivery, which is fantastic. I'm in great company just below Reginald Hill, P.D. James and Ian Rankin and alongside Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Raisin. What more could a crime author want?! You can find details on The Book Depository web site and see more about my DI Andy Horton crime series and my thriller novels on my official web site , or here of course.

Rise of Kindle sales of marine mystery crime novels and thrillers as e-reader market doubles

Image
An article on the Bookseller web site reported that the e-reader market doubled over Christmas with 7% of British adults receiving a dedicated e-reader bringing the total percentage of adults with e-book readers up to 13%, or 6.5m adults. I have certainly seen a considerable rise in the sales of my e books and on Kindle, which was revealed as the most popular device and the fastest growing overtaking the Sony Reader. And for anyone who wants a bargain for a limited period my e book publisher is offering my DI Andy Horton marine mystery crime novel Blood on the Sand on Kindle and my crime thriller novel , In For The Kill on Kindle at a special offer price on Amazon of 94p in the UK - yes 94pence!  And in the USA  the e book on Kindle of Blood on the Sand is on offer at $1.51 and In For the Kill   for the same bargain price. But if you prefer  to get your hands on the printed version of these novels or any of my other crime and thriller novel...

The Book Depository has some great offers, free worldwide shipping and not only to Ireland based buyers

The Book Depository , which already offers free worldwide shipping, is offering an extra 10% discount to Ireland-based buyers if they use a specific code when purchasing. The offer is also exclusive of VAT. The code is valid until 17th December so if you live in Ireland and want to save some money on those Christmas presents you'd better get cracking. The Book Depository also has some cracking offers on my crime novels and thrillers, and my sales and marketing books and not just to Ireland buyers.  I just had to get that plug in. Their prices are very keen and I've noticed there are some good reductions on my titles. And why are Ireland singled out for extra discounts you might ask?  Well, The Bookseller reported last week that the Irish book market has slumped by more than 16% in value and volume terms this year. For the year to 30th October, Nielsen BookScan figures revealed sales down by more than 16% to €103m. The country is currently facing an economic bailout ...

Congratulations to The Book Depository a well deserved Queen's Award for International Trade

Congratulations to The Book Depository which has been awarded the 2010 Queen's Award for International Trade, with 60% of its revenue last year coming from overseas. I'm probably biased because this on line retailer has been and still is a great supporter of my crime novels and they are featured prominently on their crime pages I am pleased to say with special offers. In fact, I am told they sell a great many books overseas because there are no postal charges, so the prices you see on the web site are what you pay. The Book Depository has won the award for increasing its turnover by 51.7% in the last year to £61m despite the recession. This year they expanded to include a dedicated US site and e-book store. They sell books with free delivery to customers in over 90 countries. The people who worked there are great guys too!  Well done Steve and Kieron.

I've been chosen as Author of the Month by The Book Depository

Image
I'm tickled pink to have been chosen by major online retailer, The Book Depository , as one of their Authors of the Month to appear on their Featured Crime and Thriller Page .  I have a special tab in the crime/thrillers section (Pauline Rowson) where my crime and thriller novels appear alongside fellow crime writer, Graham Hurley, whose novels are also incidently set in the Portsmouth area like mine. My novels are also featured alongside Classic Crime and M.J. Rose. and just below one of my favourite authors, Reginald Hill, along with P.D James and Ian Rankin, so I'm in exalted company. There are some special prices and  having bought books from The Book Depository myself know they deliver swiftly and provide a good service. If you're not familiar with my novels (I haven't been around as long as the others mentioned above-having only been published in crime fiction in 2006) then you can read the first chapters on line on the relevant pages of my official w...

Best of British Crime Fiction

I'm delighted to learn that my marine mystery crime novel featuring the flawed and rugged Inspector Horton, The Suffocating Sea , has been selected as one of ten Best of British Crime Fiction titles by The Book Depository. It's alongside the UK giants of crime fiction: Reginald Hill, Peter James, Val McDermid, John Harvey, Stephen Booth, Simon Kernick, Peter James, Stuart MacBride and Graham Hurley. The Book Depository was founded in 2004 with the aim of making "All books available to All’ through pioneering supply chain initiatives, republishing and the digitizing of content. It is the fastest growing book distributor in Europe. The Suffocating Sea has just been released in paperback. It is the third Inspector Horton Marine Mystery. The fourth Inspector Horton novel, Dead Man’s Wharf , is being published in hardcover in April. I'm really thrilled to be on this list especially being a relative newcomer to the crime fiction scene, and with no big publisher marketing bu...

My Top Ten Favourite Books

How do you choose your top ten favourite books when you have so many favourites? That was the dilemma facing me when I was asked by The Book Depository to contribute the article for their web site today. It was even more difficult because I had to choose books that are still in print and so many of my favourites aren’t. But I struggled on and managed to whittle it down to ten. You can read my choice at http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/WEBSITE/WWW/WEBPAGES/viewblogarticle.php?id=2401 What are your Top Ten Favourite books? Either leave a comment on http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/WEBSITE/WWW/WEBPAGES/viewblogarticle.php?id=2401 or here on my blog.
